The Stone Town of Zanzibar is a wonderful fusion of various cultures and the Swahili coastal island life. This region is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stone Town used to be the hub of trade between Asia and Africa. Additionally it has a symbolic importance in the movement towards the abolishment of slavery as it was at one time a hub for slave-trading.

An interesting fact to note is that Freddie Mercury, the lead singer from the band Queen was born in Stone Town, Zanzibar!
