The Stone Town of Zanzibar is a wonderful fusion of various cultures and the Swahili coastal island life. This region is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While exploring the narrow winding streets of Stone Town, visitors can notice the preserved buildings that have been influenced by Indian, Arab, Persian and European influences over several centuries. Stone Town is also famed for its uniqe Zanzibari doors with detailed craftmanship, each telling a unique story.

Stone Town used to be the hub of trade between Asia and Africa. Additionally it has a symbolic importance in the movement towards the abolishment of slavery as it was at one time a hub for slave-trading.

An interesting fact to note is that Freddie Mercury, the lead singer from the band Queen was born in Stone Town, Zanzibar!

Hotels in Stone Town will generally have a cozy boutique atmosphere often with high four poster beds, in a heritage building.

There are a minimal number of luxury beach locations around Tanzania. However, these areas offer exclusive service, beautiful beaches and a fantastic culinary experience. Locations range from remote private islands to more famous established regions.

Northern Zanzibar also known as 'Nungwi' has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The East Coast of Zanzibar is seasonally popular with kite surfers due to the easy tides that make it easy to learn the sport. It is also popular due to the pure white sands of the area, tropical waters and beautiful sunrises.
